I’ve recently been reading and watching a lot about Emma Watson and her HeForShe campaign that she started about a year ago. Myself and everyone will know Emma Watson as Hermione in Harry Potter, she has been my idol since I was little and this amazing woman just keeps getting better in my eyes.
I have always believed in equal rights, I think it’s an issue that must be addressed. So many women throughout history have stood up for rights and back then the world wasn’t as accepting as it is now. I feel like now is the time to stand up and do something about it. I really want to make a difference and get involved in this campaign so that is exactly what I’m going to do.
What Does Gender Equality Mean to Me?
It means peace, freedom from stereotypes. The chance for men and women to be equal in the sense that they don’t feel like they have to be a certain way. Men don’t have to be strong all the time, they can be vulnerable and women don’t have to be vulnerable they can be strong. We don’t have to be what society has labelled us as, we can be who we choose.
I am writing this blog post for both women and men. Ask yourself are you a feminist? What Does Gender Equality Mean to You?
Feminist Definition: The theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes.
I don’t usually talk about issues such as this on my blog as I know that people have very mixed opinions and having your own opinion is fine. But this is mine and I feel the world must change.
Take a look at the HeForShe campaign if you believe in this issue and want the world to change, see how you can make a difference and get involved.
Thank you for reading this, leave a comment letting me know how you feel about this issue.
